The Fast Diet! A new dieting craze.

Finally here is my review of the Hollywood diet.
A quick recap because I have been really bad at keeping up to date with blog posts!!

Hollywood Diet

Recipe
 ♥ 1 cup low-fat vanilla soy milk
♥ 1 cup orange juice
♥ 1 cup cranberry juice
♥ 1 cup yoghurt (plain)
♥ 1/4 tsp. wheat-germ oil or 2 tsp. wheat germ
♥ 1/4 tsp.flaxseed oil

Blend all ingredients together, then divide into two portions (each portion is a full day's diet drink). Sip throughout the day, along with plenty of water.

I originally went in with the mindset that this diet would be easier than The Cabbage Soup diet that I have previously reviewed because it was a lot shorter. One of the main issues with The Cabbage Soup diet was finding the motivation to stick to it for 7 days.

You really do have to have a lot of will power to follow through with this diet. You have nothing solid during the two days and I found that extremely hard as it caused me to crave fatty foods such as pizza. A saving grace of the Hollywood Diet is that it is only 48 hours and the end seems like a realistic goal; by the end of your first day you only have 24 hours left and that is a comforting thought. It gives you the motivation to carry on. The last 24 hours can seem unreachable with diets that last a week or longer.

Fasting is always very hard especially when you aren't used to it. It's something that our ancestors did on a regular basis as food wasn't so readily available but through years of grazing our bodies feel like they can no longer cope on small amounts of food.

During the two days I managed to lose 7 pounds which was brilliant for such a short period of time although since finishing the diet I have put 5 of those back on. Again like The Cabbage Soup diet I would recommend it if you have a big event coming up in a fews days just too shift those last final pounds but I wouldn't recommend it as a long term answer.

Following on from the idea of short periods of fasting I am now going to take on the Fast Diet.

The Fast diet is the new dieting craze and everyone appears to be jumping on the band wagon with many newspapers covering it in their weekend issues.
The diet consists of fasting for 2 days a week (only consuming 500 calories for women and 600 for men) and then eating anything you like on the other 5 days ... Yes, you read right you can eat ANYTHING.

On your 'off days' (when you aren't fasting) women can consumes 2,000 calories and men 2,500 but you can decide how to make up these calories.
You could eat fish and chips (840 calories) or a cheeseburger (500 calories) or even a chocolate muffin (300 calories).

Today is my first fast day and for breakfast I started with 2 eggs (180 calories) a dash of skimmed milk (15ml, 5 calories) scrambled in a non stick frying pan with no added fat. I then added half a red bell pepper (15 calories). I could have also added 50g of chopped smoked salmon (71 calories) instead of the peppers.
My breakfast came to 200 calories.

For dinner I will be making roasted vegetable salad.
Mix 10 cherry tomatoes (150g, 27 calories) with half a sliced courgette (50g, 9 calories) and half a sliced aubergine (75g, 11 calories). Scatter with basil leaves (1 calorie) and drizzle balsamic vinegar. Roast for 20-25 minutes. Serve with 2 tbsp Parmesan (20g, 90 calories).

What do you guys think of the Fast Diet?
Has anybody got any healthy, low calorie meal recipes?
